AFGHAN SCHOOL AND CLINIC RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Consulted with client to design appropriate field communications systems
for large reconstruction project of over 120 schools and clinics. The
hybrid solution included RBGANs, Mini-Ms, and Iridium Satellite phones
used to link construction teams, engineers and aid workers to the Kabul
headquarters. The equipment was critical to preventing delays, particularly
in the Pamir mountains, where architectural changes were made to buildings
in mid-project, requiring changes to supply orders that were made directly
online. The client could complete the work 30 percent faster than in previous
assignments due to the satellite technology equipment deployed.

EMERGENCY SUPPLIES TO CHAD
Assisted client in determining effective connectivity tools for relief
workers traveling to off-grid locations in Chad to deliver humanitarian
aid; supplied satellite communications equipment used for relief mission.

ETHIOPIA GURAGE LIVELIHOODS FOR AGRICULTURAL
DEVELOPMENT
I-LINX was the lead technical writer for this proposal promoting livelihood
development in a rural area of Ethiopia using agro-forestry and apiary
and poultry cultivation as core inputs for economic growth.

IRAQ COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM (ICAP)
Supplied client with satellite communications equipment designed to comply
with safety standards for contractors working in the reconstruction effort
in Iraq. Our team provided the design, supplied the equipment and regularly
engaged in troubleshooting with field workers in order to ensure they
had round-the-clock access to information in their precarious location.

LIBERIA LOCAL COMMUNITY NETWORKS FOR COMMUNITY
STRENGTHENING (LINCS)
Consulted with Office of Transition Initiatives Director and Emergency
Operations Manager to determine which communications tools should be deployed
to assist in the start-up of a Liberian operations center. Supplied team
with Inmarsat Regional Global Area Network (RBGAN) portable satellite
modem.

MALI BOUGOULA COMMUNITY ACCESS POINT (EMPOWER)
Provided beneficiary village with free RBGAN terminal enabling villagers
to connect to the internet and use the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP)
attachment to place phone calls. The first phone call ever to be made
from the village took place using this technology. The project team is
currently conducting a feasibility study of the long-term use of the RBGAN
modem in order to identify broader communications needs in the multi-purpose
telecenter. The team is also partnering with a local Peace Corps volunteer
to determine how Internet access can best serve a community's health information
and services needs.

MINISTRY OF LABOR EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM YEMEN/LEBANON
I-LINX designed an interactive PDA application that allows the NGO partner
to develop easy-to-fill-out resume fields, then submit them to the Ministry
of Labor; the application also cross-references mentors and students and
tracks job placement results on this youth empowerment program. We designed
the component, developed the tool and also designed the permanent connectivity
communications system to be used by the implementing agencies in the field.

NEPAD E-SCHOOLS SATLINK PROGRAM
I-LINX is the lead implementation partner of the Inmarsat Consortium
for the NEPAD E-Schools Satlink Project, an ambitious endeavor that will
bring over 600,000 school sites in Africa online. In partnership with
local governments, the Consortium will set up 20 locations during the
pilot phase - each outfitted with connectivity solutions designed by I-LINX
on the basis of existing infrastructure, power sources, geographic specificity
and content needs.

SUDAN BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES AND LIVELIHOODS IN
DHARFOUR (BOLD)
I-LINX assisted CHF in the design of a communications system to be used
by temporary field staff as well as house a field communications team
in northern Sudan using the portable RBGAN satellite modem as the main
tool to access the Internet and transmit information to and from headquarters
and between relief and development agencies in the field.

ADDRESSING CONFLICT IN TAJIKISTAN (ACT) PROGRAM
The I-LINX team lead the proposal development project for a two-year
program to combat conflict in Northern Tajikistan through an innovative
empowerment program linking youth to jobs via conflict mediation and professional
and IT skills development leading to web-based entrepreneurship. The program
also includes a mentorship component and a useful technology-enabled job
placement process utilizing PDAs to help youth place resumes on a service
linking them to employers. I-LINX supplies connectivity to the project
via VSAT systems.

ITU/INMARSAT E-LEARNING INITIATIVE
I-LINX is the lead implementing partner on an initiative to establish
50 e-learning centers in partnership with the ITU and participating governments
in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. This unique public-private
partnership was founded by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
and INMARSAT. The Regional BGAN product, provided by INMARSAT, is a unique
portable satellite modem that enables connectivity in the most rural,
off-grid locations that may otherwise be deprived of access. The project
includes the design, set-up and management of 50 sites to be linked through
an association, which enables sharing of resources and costs in order
to promote long-term sustainability and broad dissemination of knowledge
and skills. The objective is to provide Internet connectivity to rural
schools and to facilitate education and e-health applications.
